Cancellation and refunds when a flight moves
What is kept when a booking is cancelled depends only on the notice given: all of the deposit returns with a day to spare, and less as the hour nears.
Cancelling never exposes a guest to a claim for damages from the house. What may be kept is part or all of the deposit, as fee already earned at the moment the cancellation arrives, and the notice given is the only thing that decides how much.
The scale
- More than twenty-four hours before the booked time: nothing is kept, and the whole deposit returns.
- Inside the final twenty-four hours, while she has not yet left: half the deposit is kept and half is repaid.
- Once she is on her way: the whole deposit is kept.
Two things can reduce even the last of these. If the time released is taken by another client, the deposit is repaid in full. And if a guest can show the loss to the house was smaller than the part kept, only that smaller amount is kept.
An airport example
Ninety minutes at an airport hotel costs EUR 270, so the deposit is EUR 135. A flight rebooked two days ahead: EUR 135 returns. Rebooked that morning, before she has left: EUR 67.50 kept, EUR 67.50 repaid. A message sent once she is already on the motorway: EUR 135 kept, unless the time is re-let.
Flights are on the guest's side
A delayed, cancelled or rebooked flight is an ordinary change of plan, not force majeure. Force majeure means something that makes the journey itself impossible, such as an official instruction or a transport shutdown, and in that case the deposit becomes credit instead.
Moving instead of cancelling
One move to a date within fourteen days is free when asked for more than twenty-four hours ahead, and the deposit travels with it. The full rule, including sessions closed early, is on the cancellation page.
